Based on the data that was collected, it is evident that our hypothesis can be proven correct. Even though some isopods went into the dry soil petri dish, there was never a time where the number of isopods in the dry soil petri dish outnumbered the isopods in the wet petri dish.
Because of them breathing through gills, they require moisture to sustain them without being able to be fully submerged in water. The wet soil provided a moist environment that they have been proven to prefer.
